Prime Minister Justin Trudeau meets with President of Burkina Faso Roch Marc Christian Kaboré

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today met with the President of Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, on the margins of the 33rd African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  Prime Minister Trudeau conveyed Canada’s solidarity with the Burkinabe people as they confront important security and humanitarian challenges brought about by the crisis in the Sahel. The two leaders agreed on the need for continued collaboration with partners in the region to prevent conflict and combat terrorism. Prime Minister Trudeau and President Kaboré exchanged views on the bilateral relationship, grounded in strong people-to-people ties, trade and investment, and cooperation on the world stage. President Kaboré, in particular, underscored the importance of Canadian investments to Burkina Faso’s economy.
